Fourth day here and I've already seen some pretty cool stuff! We went out for tapas and for a flamenco show that was pretty amazing. Some of the tapas included patatas bravas and fried pork, everything we had was perfect. Spanish food is known to be pretty rich, but very satisfying after walking the city for most of the day. Elena and Jaime, my host parents, have yet to cook something I haven't liked or will be craving when I return home. Who knew I would ever love eggplant soup?
Yesterday we shopped the annual rebajas (sales) for the afternoon. Maria, you were completely right about rebajas, they're absolutely necessary. Stores like Zara and H & M are the most popular but there are also smaller stores with unique finds. Last night Sevilla and Bestis, the two local soccer teams, faced off in a game that had all the locals glued to their TV screens at home or at a bar. We went out to a bar frequented by many university students to watch the game, which ended with a tie. Futbol loyalties are serious here, so you're forced to quickly pick a team (viva Sevilla!) and stick to them. It's also recommendable to learn the chants, each team has numerous ones and it helps you meet the university students!
